Concerns over youths throwing rocks into Eastbourne road

There are said to have been a number of incidents in the Paradise Drive area, always happening at night.

On one occasion, a woman says her windscreen was smashed as she was driving down the road at 10.30pm on Saturday (September 19).

She told the Herald she got out to chase the youths, and, although she got hold of one of them in pursuit, he threw her into a bramble bush.

People have also reported coming across the obstructions on the road, and having to get out of their vehicles to remove it.

Then they have heard a group of youths coming towards them shouting and laughing, causing them to get back into their cars and drive away.

Inspector Rachel Barrow, of the Eastbourne prevention team, said, “We are aware of concerns around anti-social behaviour in the Paradise Drive area of Eastbourne, particularly around people throwing branches and rocks into the road and at moving vehicles.

“Our officers have been carrying out dedicated patrols in the area, during the day and as part of the regular Operation Blitz anti-social behaviour patrols on a Friday and Saturday night.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and we urge people to continue to report incidents such as this to us so we can build an accurate picture of what is happening and respond effectively.”
