Cranleigh fur shop raided

Thieves have stolen a large quantity of fur clothing in a smash and grab raid at a specialist retail outlet in Cranleigh.

The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, 4 April sometime between 12.09am and 12.24am when thieves smashed their way through a door at the back of Soho Furriers at Smithbrook Kilns on Horsham Road.

The 80 plus items of clothing, included coats, jackets, gilets and hats, which were all made of, or trimmed, with fur, were grabbed from a store room. The haul included two unique pieces, a black mink coat with silver fox arms and a vintage brown mink with suede inserts.

A silver saloon car was seen to enter the shopping area and the stolen goods were loaded into the vehicle which then left the site at around 12.20am.

Detective constable Barry Collyer investigating said: “This was an audacious burglary in which distinctive items have been stripped from the shop – which was similarly targeted at the end of last year – and I am appealing for anyone who may recognise the vehicle in the CCTV image or saw the get-away car in the vicinity or any suspicious individual or behaviour to contact Surrey Police.

“Similarly, I need to hear from anyone who may see or be offered these items for sale in unusual circumstances to let me know. Surrey Police will not tolerate such brazen offending and will do everything possible to bring such offenders to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey Police on 101 quoting 45140026124. Alternatively the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
