Crawley couple sentenced for drug offences

A Crawley man has been sent to jail for six years for possession and intent to supply drugs.

Lamin Bojang, and his wife Mariama, both 34 and of Petworth Court, Bewbush, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday (August 22).

Lamin Bojang was sentenced to a total of six years imprisonment for possession of cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply, and his wife received a one-year sentence suspended for two years for possession of cannabis and money laundering.

They had been arrested following a routine vehicle stop-check by local officers in Crawley in the early hours of July 3 last year

Poliec stopped a car in Mowbray Drive, Bewbush, Crawley, at around 1.55am.

A large quantity of cocaine and cannabis was found in the boot of the car.

Bojang was arrested and a further search of a property nearby revealed further cannabis and resulted in the arrest of his wife.

Detective Constable Heidi McCall of Crawley CID said: “This was a great result for the response officers and shows that there are many ways to catch people involved in drugs which have such a detrimental impact on our local communities.”

Mariama Bojang will face a further hearing at Lewes Crown Court on October 17 when police will seek a financial confiscation order against her under the Proceeds of Crime Act for proceeds gained from criminality.
