Crawley knife incident: man arrested after report of threatening behaviour

A man was arrested in Crawley following a report that he had a knife and was making threats, said Sussex police.

Police said the incident happened at 10.45am on Thursday (July 15) inside a property at Wren Court, Tilgate Way.

Officers attended and safely detained the suspect, a 41-year-old man, said police, adding that no injuries have been reported.

“We are thankful to the public for their patience and understanding while this incident was ongoing,” said chief inspector Shane Baker, district commander for Crawley.

“During this incident, a distraction device was used, which may have caused some alarm and disruption to residents,” he said.

“We would like to assure the public that nobody was harmed and there is not believed to be any ongoing threat to the local community at this time,” he added.
