Crawley man charged with attempted murder

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was injured in Crawley.

Police were called to West Green Drive around 9.35am on Thursday (December 17) following concerns for a man in possession of a knife.

The man was detained, during which time an officer suffered a minor laceration to his hand.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said Jack Chao, 37, a solicitor of West Green Drive, Crawley, was charged with attempted murder yesterday (Friday, December 18).

He will appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday, December 19).
