Crawley man injured after stabbing outside pub

A Crawley man was stabbed following an argument between a group of men outside a town pub on Thursday (September 3).

Police were called at about 10pm to a report that a group of men were arguing outside The Old Punch Bowl pub, during which time a 46-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

A police spokesperson said a knife was recovered during a search of the area but is yet to be tested forensically to establish if it is linked to the stabbing.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, police said.

A 46-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and released on police bail until November 6.

A 54-year-old man from Crawley was also arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and released on police bail until November 6.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Detective sergeant Victoria Tomlinson said: “We would like to hear from anybody who may have been in the area at the time and saw the group of men arguing.

“Witnesses can email [email protected] or call 101 quoting reference 1555 of 03/09.”
