Disabled woman attacked while queueing at ice-cream van in Hailsham, police say

Police want to speak to this man following reports of an attack on a disabled woman buying ice-cream in Hailsham.

Sussex Police said that at about 5pm on Monday (June 22) the woman, who had a walking stick and clear disabilities, was allegedly assaulted at an ice-cream van in Lindfield Drive.

Police said they are keen to speak to the man pictured as he may be able to assist with enquiries.

The man is described by police as aged between 35 and 45, with a medium build and dark hair and a beard. He spoke with an Eastern European accent and was riding a powered bicycle.

Police said the man is believed to have been accompanied by a woman and two children, all on bicycles.

Detective Constable Chris Perry said, “This was an attack on a woman with clear disabilities in broad daylight. I am extremely anxious to speak to this man as soon as possible as we think he can assist with our investigation.

“I urge him to come forward.”
