DJ Neil Fox cleared of sexual offences

RADIO DJ Neil Fox – who has a home in East Preston – has today (December 14) been cleared of sexually abusing girls as young as 14.

The 53-year-old radio presenter – known as ‘Dr Fox’ – was arrested in September last year by police investigating claims of historical sex offences.

Today, Westminster magistrates said the bench ‘could not be sure that in the context it was a criminal offence’.

Following the hearing, Mr Fox made a public announcement where he thanked his friends, listeners and family for sticking by him.

Mr Fox had been charged him with a total of nine sex offences involving six people, of whom three were children.

Fox has been charged with three counts of indecent assault, one on a female under the age of 14 and two on females under 16.

The offences were alleged to have taken place between 1991 and 1996.

He was a judge on Pop Idol and presented other ITV1 shows before leaving Capital in 2005 after 18 years to go to Magic 105.4 where he presented the breakfast show, Foxy in the Morning.
