Bill was taken from his owner in London in November 2019, Inspector Darren Taylor of Mid Sussex Police said on Twitter.

He added that the distraught owner had spent months searching social media in a bid to be reunited with her furry friend.

Darren said: “Suddenly Bill appeared for sale in Burgess Hill so the team got involved and have got Bill back for her.”

The poor pooch was up for sale for £1000, Darren added. He said enquiries are still ongoing.

Darren added: “She never gave up looking for him and after seven months gets reunited with her pet dog.”
