Dog walker ‘kicked and punched’ at Newhaven nature reserve

Police are investigating after a dog walker was attacked at a nature reserve in Newhaven.

Sussex Police said at 2.30pm on Saturday, June 6, the 19-year-old victim was walking with her dog from Fort Road up Castle Hill towards the cliffs at the Castle Hill Nature Reserve when she was attacked from behind by a group of four teenage girls who kicked and punched her before running off.

Sergeant Amy Mason said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack on a member of the public just out walking her dog, and we are sure some local people will have information about those responsible.”

Police said one of the girls is described as white, aged between 16 and 19, about 5ft 5in-6in, with brown hair and of skinny build, wearing a dark coloured jacket.

Witnesses or anyoone who has any other information are asked to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 749 of 06/06.
