Acting on intelligence that a dog had been seen at a premises in Dunsfold a team of officers executed a warrant at the property on Wednesday (February 20).

On searching the house, officers found a male brown springer spaniel in the kitchen which matched the photograph of a dog reported missing from Witley on January 19.

The dog was scanned for a microchip which confirmed his identity and his owners were then contacted with the good news.

A 19-year-old man from Dunsfold has been arrested on suspicion of theft and will be interviewed about this matter.

PC James Ansell said: “The owners were absolutely overwhelmed when we told them we had found Monty and they are delighted to have him back home. A real community effort was involved in tracking down Monty and we would like to thank the public for their help in providing information which resulted in the warrant. I would urge anyone to report anything unusual or suspicious in their neighbourhood to Surrey Police on 101 so we can take appropriate action.”
