Police said at 2.10pm on Tuesday, November 22 a 64-year old house owner heard a noise and entered the living room just in time to see a man carrying away a plastic beer bottle in which she was collecting spare cash with an estimated worth of some £100.

She challenged him but he ran away through the front door, which had been forced to gain entry, according to police.

They did not come into physical contact.
