Girl assaulted in Worthing

POLICE are seeking witnesses to an assault on a girl in a Worthing street.

At about 2.30pm on Sunday (July 1) the 15-year-old was walking through the subway at the north end of Chapel Road, Worthing.

A man described as being Asian, in his 30s, tall and of slim build, wearing a dark-coloured jumper and jeans, followed her into the subway and assaulted her.

She was not hurt and the man ran off north up Chapel Road.

Detective Constable Jon Stadius said: “The victim was very shaken by this isolated incident for the area.

“If you were in the area on Sunday afternoon and saw what happened, or the man involved, please contact us via 101 quoting serial 0914 of 1 July.

“You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The appeal for information was released by Sussex Police last night (Friday, July 6).
