'˜Glassed in the face over pool game' in Burwash pub

A man was glassed in the face during a fight in a pub over a game of pool in Burwash on Friday night (March 3), police said.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the Bear Inn in the High Street at around midnight.

A 22-year-old man suffered a cut to his forehead which was bleeding heavily, and was taken to Eastbourne General Hospital for treatment.

“The victim was assaulted when he went to play a game of pool in the pub and the suspect argued it was his turn to play,” a police spokesman said.

“He then punched the victim in the face twice and picked up a glass and hit him in the face with it.

“The suspect then left the pub and may have been driven off in a vehicle with friends.”

He is described as white, aged between 19 and 24, between 5’ 7” and 5’ 9”, slim, with short brown hair with a gelled spike on top.

He was wearing a grey top beneath a black puffa sleeveless body warmer and dark bottoms.

Detective Constable Stuart Black said: “This was a nasty attack and we are keen to speak to witnesses or anyone who may know who the suspect is.”
