Hailsham man charged for attempted sexual grooming of a child
A 45-year-old man from Hailsham has been charged with attempted sexual grooming offences.
Damien Cotgreave, from High Street in Hailsham, appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court today (Friday, April 16) to face a charge of attempted online sexual communication with a child, police say.
According to police, Cotgreave pleaded not guilty and the case has now been sent for trial with a preliminary hearing at a crown court on May 17.
The prosecution, authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service, follows an investigation by the Paedophile Online Investigation Team of Sussex Police which began when information was received in February 2020, police say.
