Hammer-wielding robber steals money from Horsham store

A man holding a hammer made off with £250 in cash after robbing a store in Horsham on Sunday (September 6).

The man entered the Caterways store in Merryfield Drive holding a hammer and demanded cash from the shopkeeper behind the counter, police said.

She handed over £250 and he ran off towards Greenway. No one was harmed.

The suspect is described as white, 5’ 8”, of medium build and wearing a black tracksuit and a white t-shirt. He had his face covered.

Detective sergeant Laura Diamond said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this robbery or saw the suspect running off.”
