A glass panel at the entrance of JJ’s Hairdressers in Blackbridge Lane was smashed at around 2am this morning (Friday April 12).

The thief - or thieves - crawled through shattered glass and rummaged through the till and tip box making off with only £4.50.

But this is the second time in four months the premises has been burgled.

Just before Christmas around £250 was stolen from the till.

Since then co-owner Ruth Dalton moved the cash off site.

“It’s ridiculous,” she told the County Times. “It’s not nice, you can’t help but feel targeted.

“They’ve got to be desperate to crawl over broken glass.”

Forensics from Sussex Police were on the scene this morning.

They discovered a finger print on the tip box and fibres from clothes on the glass.

“For £4.50 the police are out for two hours, in a way it’s a waste of police time and a waste of the taxpayers’ money.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “This is the second time the same place has been burgled in the past four months and police are considering the possibility of a connection between the two incidents.

“Police have been investigating and anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area overnight or who has any other information that would help is asked to call us on 101 quoting serial 0295 of 12/4. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
