Horsham town centre charity shop ‘really disappointed’ after hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery stolen

Cancer Research UK was targeted at around 9.30am on October 10, store manager Victoria Godfrey said.

She added: “I am so disappointed that this individual targeted our charity shop.

“The whole team are devastated as the kind and generous donations of someone in the Horsham Community have been taken by an unscrupulous individual for personal gain. However, this makes us more determined than ever to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.”

A store spokesman added that the theft was ‘really disappointing’ as the charity tries to regain money lost during three months of closure during lockdown.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “At 10.46am on Saturday October 10 we received a report that an hour and ten minutes earlier a man had been seen to take two gold necklaces valued together at about £500 from a display at Cancer Research in East Street, Horsham.

“The suspect is described as white, in his early twenties, slim, about 5’6”, wearing a Manchester Utd cap, a black balaclava top, black tights under black shorts, and black trainers with an orange stripe on the heels. He had a rucksack and a green bag for life.”

Police are investigating and have asked the victim to make their CCTV of the incident available, he added.
