There has been a number of break-ins to homes in Broadfield, West Green and Southgate in recent months, where handbags, cash and small items have been stolen during the evenings.

Police said the burglars have got in through unlocked doors when the occupants are at home, though no victims have been confronted.

Investigator Rebecca Doherty said: “The crime is complete in a matter of seconds as the personal items are stolen from areas close to where the intruders have got in.

“Victims are often unaware that they have been burgled until they cannot find their belongings.
