Machete covered in blood found in Worthing road sparks police search

A machete covered in blood has been found in a Worthing road, leading to a person's arrest, according to Sussex Police.

According to a police spokesman, officers were called to the vicinity of Victoria Road, Worthing, shortly after 2.45pm today (July 20) after a member of the public found a machete covered in blood.

Click here to see pictures from the scene.One person was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife / bladed article in a public place, police said.

They remain in police custody as of 4pm, police said.

A police spokesman said: "Efforts are currently ongoing to find any person injured in the incident, to check their welfare and to establish the full circumstances of the matter.

"Anyone who saw the altercation, or who has any information about what happened, is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting serial 774 of 20/07."
