Magistrates Court results for the Eastbourne area for March 2 March 5

March 2:

Nellie Holder, 53, of The Holt, Hailsham, indicated a plea of guilty to stealing toys worth £469.92 from Smyths Toys, in Bournemouth on November 11. The court made a community order and fined her £50. She was ordered to pay £234.96 in compensation.

Trampas McIvor, 39, of Malthouse Way, Hellingly, Hailsham, was found guilty of using threatening behaviour. The offence took place at Hailsham on June 2. The court made a community order with a requirement of 120 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £350 in prosecution costs. Magistrates made a restraining order.

March 3:

James Elliott, 26, of Norway Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. 
The offence took place at Admiral Retail Park, Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne, on December 1. He also pleaded guilty to using a vehicle on Lottbridge Drove, on November 30, with no licence or insurance. He was given a one-year conditional discharge and fined £200. His driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.

Ben Atherton, 20, of Eden Close, Stone Cross, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis with intent to supply. 
The offence took place at Pevensey on May 5 last year. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for one year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 240 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £250 in prosecution costs.

March 4:

Scott Banks, 31, of Lewes Road, Uckfield, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis when required to do so by police under the Road Traffic Act 1988. The offence took place at Eastbourne on February 10. The court made a community order with a requirement of 100 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for 20 months.

Tobias Denyer, 37, of Langney Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to three charges of entering Terminus Road at Eastbourne on January 15, when banned from doing do by a court criminal behaviour order. He admitted being in breach of a suspended sentence, made by an earlier court of an offence of racially aggravated threatening behaviour. He was sentenced to a total of 12 weeks in prison. Magistrates said the reason for the custodial sentence was because of ‘wilful and persistent refusal to comply with court orders’.

Raul Mereanu, 38, of Elms Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Skoda on Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne, on January 12, while twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 72 micrograms. The legal limit is 35 micrograms. 
He also pleaded guilty to driving without wearing a seatbelt at Eastbourne on the same date. He was fined a total of £461 and banned from driving for 17 months.

Samuel Taylor, 60, of Fountains Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Toyota vehicle on Eastbourne Road, Willingdon, on February 12, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 63 micrograms. 
The legal limit is 35 micrograms. He was fined £250 and banned from driving for 17 months.

March 5:

Nicholas Webb, 37, of St Anthony’s Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Toyota vehicle on Seaside Road, Eastbourne, on July 16, with cannabis in his bloodstream. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for one year.

Gareth Jamieson, 39, of Langney Road, Eastbourne, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a knife with a four-inch blade at Eastbourne railway station on January 1. He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to court custody at Hastings on February 5. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on April 2 and released on conditional bail with an electronically monitored curfew between 7pm and 7am.
