March 9:


Joseph Derrick, 28, of Fletching Road, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her. 
The offence took place at Polegate on August 24. He also admitted being in breach of a suspended sentence made by an earlier court for and offence of assault. 
The court made a community order with a requirement of 150 hours of unpaid work. He was fined £150 for the breach.

Ellis Robertson, 22, of Foxglove Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Astra on Golden Jubilee Way, Eastbourne, on December 7, while more than twice over the drink drive limit. 
He gave a breath alcohol reading of 81 micrograms. The legal limit is 35 micrograms. He also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance on the same date.
The court made a community order with a requirement of 150 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for three years. He was ordered to pay £385 in prosecution costs.

A 15-year-old Polegate youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty of being in possession of items to be used in connection with theft, namely black gloves and an angle grinder. The offence took place at Trafalgar Place, Brighton, on September 24. He was referred to the East Sussex Youth Offender Panel for a four-month contract.

March 10:

Ronald Finch, 42, of Elms Avenue, Eastbourne, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis. The offence took place at Eastbourne on August 24. He was fined £60.

Chelsea Downie, 29, of Ersham Road, Hailsham, was found guilty of failing to provide information to police relating to the identity of the driver of a Mini who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence in Sussex on July 12. She was fined £660 and ordered to pay £200 in prosecution costs. Her driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.

March 16:

Calvin Fuller, 22, of Maywood Avenue, Hampden Park, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her. The offence took place at Eastbourne on August 6. 
The court made a community order with a requirement of 150 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £250 in compensation and £300 in prosecution costs. Magistrates issued a restraining order.

Liam Conway, 26, of Swallow Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing two bottles of Champagne, worth £55, from Co-op, in St Leonards, on December 23. He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her at St Leonards on the same date. He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison and ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

Michael Jones, 49, of HMP Lewes, pleaded guilty to stealing glasses worth £419 from Vision Express at the Beacon Centre, in Eastbourne, on February 27. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis at Eastbourne on the same date. The court ordered him to be detained in the courthouse for a period, by reason of time already spent in custody.
