Magistrates Court results for the Hastings and Rother area

July 8:

Phillip Martin, 27, of Whitefriars Road, Hastings, indicated a plea of guilty to driving a Honda CBR 600 dangerously on Eversfield Place and roads leading to the Ridge, on June 2. He also pleaded guilty to failing to stop when required to do so by police. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on August 5 and released on unconditional bail. The court imposed an interim driving ban.

Craig Penfold, 31, of Quebec Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer. The offence took place at Hastings on February 17. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis at Hastings on the same date. He was given a one year conditional discharge.

Bruce Buckland, 51, of Bolebrook Road, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking of, and harassment of a woman by making numerous phone calls to her place of work, leaving abusive voicemail messages at her place of work and sending her a threatening message and threatening letter. The offence took place at Bexhill between November 27 and November 29 last year. He also indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of cannabis at Bexhill on December 2. The court made a community order and ordered him to pay £90 compensation. Magistrates also issued a restraining order.

July 9:

Janet Jennings, 81, of Elsted Road, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford vehicle without due care and attention at Cooden Sea Road, Bexhill, on October 16 last year. She was fined £347 and banned from driving for four years.

Paul Kehoe, 40, of Pevensey Road, St Leonards, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis. The offence took place at Eastbourne on May 18. He was fined £73.

Garry Taylor, 33, of Grassington Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing art supplied, worth £501, from In Perspective, at St Leonards Road, Bexhill, on June 21 last year. He was ordered to pay £250 compensation.

July 13:

A 16 year old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to causing £313 damage to a glass door at Jempsons supermarket in Battle on October 16 last year. He also pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour and to assault by beating at Battle on the same date. He was ordered to pay a total of £300 in compensation.

July 14:

Ruby Buckley, 21, of Endeavour Way, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan vehicle on Bohemia Road, Hastings, on November 17 last year with cocaine in her blood stream. She also pleaded guilty to driving with the controlled drug Benzoylecgonine in her blood stream on the same date. She was fined £120 and banned from driving for one year.

Jennifer Harper, 34, of Fisher Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Fiat Punto on the A259 Barnhorn Road, Bexhill, on May 7, while twice over the drink drive limit. She gave a breath alcohol reading of 76 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. She was fined £120 and banned from driving for 20 months.

Thomas Lake, 50, of Marina, St Leonards, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis. The offence took place at Bexhill on April 16, He was fined £40.

Alfie Ilmers, 26, of Quarry Crescent, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes vehicle on Sedlescombe Road, North, St Leonards, on May 8, while disqualified from driving. He also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance on the same date. He was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months. The court made a community order with a requirement of 286 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for 42 months.

July 15:

Sarah Maynard, 53, of Victoria Avenue, Hastings, indicated a plea of guilty to stealing £5,400 cash belonging to Hastings Direct. The offence took place at Hastings between October 9 and December 4 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 200 hours of unpaid work and ordered her to pay £5,800 in compensation.

Sharon O’Brien, 40, of Marley Rise, Battle, pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes vehicle on Havelock Road, Hastings, on February 7, while disqualified from driving. She also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance on the same date. She was banned from driving for 18 months.

John Robinson, 35, from Beale Street, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at St Leonards, on January 24. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cocaine on the same date. He was given an 18 month conditional discharge and fined £166.

Kurtis Sear, 20, of Malvern Way, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of Baileys chocolate liqueur, worth 12, from Waitrose, at Eastbourne, on December 4 last year. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £12 in compensation.

Jeffrey Ashman, 49, of Orchard Close, Hastings, indicated a plea of guilty to stealing clothes, worth £257, from JB Wards at Bexhill, on October 21 last year. He also indicated a plea of guilty to stealing clothes, worth £545, from the same store on October 22. The court made a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement and ordered him to pay a total of £804 in compensation.
