Magistrates Court results for the Hastings and Rother area

November 4:

Trevor Taylor, 55, of New Moorsite, Westfield, indicated a plea of guilty to causing a person to fear, on at least two occasions that violence would be used against them at Westfield on September 1 and that the offence was racially aggravated, and that on September 21 he sent a letter that was of a racial nature. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on December 2 and released on bail with the conditions not to contact the victim or to go to Westfield Doctor’s Surgery.

Leigh Reid, 48, of Amherst Road, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes vehicle on Station Road, Crowhurst, on April 3, with cocaine and the controlled drug Benzoylecgonine in his blood stream. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for one year.

Nathan Stent, 39, of Emmanuel Road, Hastings, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of 12 cannabis plants. The offence took place at Hastings on July 5. He also indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of 296 tablets of the Class C controlled drug Diazepam at Hastings on the same date. He was given a one year conditional discharge.

Ricky Bradley, 37, of Kinver Lane, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford vehicle on Horntye Road, Hastings, on April 1 with cocaine in his blood stream. He also pleaded guilty to driving with cannabis and the controlled drug Benzoylecgonine in his blood stream, and to driving with no insurance, at Hastings on the same date. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for 15 months.

Danyal Aldous, 29, of North Terrace, Hastings, indicated a plea of guilty to threatening to damage a front door. The offence took place at St Leonards on August 1. Magistrates issued a restraining order and fined him £120.

Darren Freeman, 47, of Buxton Drive, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to stealing meat items, worth £70, from Lidl, at Ninfield Road, Bexhill, on January 27. He was found guilty of being in possession of a cleaver and a steak knife in a public place, at Lidl, Bexhill, on the same date. He was sentenced to a total of 26 weeks in prison. Magistrates said the reason for the custodial sentence was that it was his third offence of being in possession of a bladed article.

Emma Boyle, 36, of Sedlescombe Road South, St Leonards, indicated guilty pleas to two charges of assaulting a police officer. The offences took place at St Leonards on July 27. She also pleaded guilty to causing damage to a Fiat vehicle at St Leonards on the same date. She was sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for one year. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was ‘continued aggression to emergency worker through arrest’ and that the offence was Covid related. The court made a community order. She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £425 in compensation.

November 5:

Casey People, 40, of Gunther Close, Hawkhurst, Kent, pleaded guilty to driving a BMW vehicle on Braybrooke Road, Hastings, on April 21, with cocaine and the controlled drug Benzoylecgonine in his blood stream. He also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance at Hastings on the same date. He was found guilty of assaulting a police officer at Hastings on April 21. He was given an 18 month conditional discharge, fined £400 and banned from driving for 18 months. He was ordered to pay £640 in prosecution costs.

Cameron Sawyer, 20, of The Oak Field, Pett, pleaded guilty to driving a Fiat Punto on Pett Level Road, Winchelsea, on November 3 last year, while over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 61 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He was fined £250 and banned from driving for 18 months.

November 9:

A 17-year-old Eastbourne youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to stealing a BMW vehicle from St Leonards, on September 6. He pleaded guilty to failing to stop for police while driving a Suzuki vehicle, on Charles Road, St Leonards, on November 5. He pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen Polo dangerously on Hillside Road, Hastings, on October 8 and to failing to stop for police, driving with no insurance and driving while disqualified, at Hastings on the same date. He pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and to driving with no insurance on Bexhill Road, St Leonards, on August 28. He was sentenced to an 18 month detention and training order and banned from driving for 27 months.
