June 30:

Danny Churchill, 58, of Ivory Down, Bromley, Kent, pleaded guilty to speeding on Gatwick Road, Crawley, on June 23. He was fined £100 and his driving record endorsed with three penalty points.


David Stamp, 34, of Crowhurst Lane End, Oxted, Surrey pleaded guilty to speeding on Gatwick Road, Crawley, on August 24. He also pleaded guilty to using a hand held mobile phone wile driving on the same date. He was fined £202 for each offence and his driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.

Isaac Smith, 47, of Masefield Road, Crawley, pleaded guilty to damaging church leaflets and other paperwork belonging to The Church of St Francis and St Anthony at Crawley on November 18 last year. He also pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour at Crawley on November 25. He was fined £80. Magistrates issued a restraining order preventing him from going to St Francis and St Anthony church.


Suhayl Ahmed, 21, of Milthorpe Road, Horsham, pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen Golf on Horsham Road, Crawley, on November 15 last year, while disqualified from driving. He also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance on the same date. He was fined £357 for each offence.

Alexander Pavlovic, 34, of Brantridge Road, Crawley, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of an illegal pepper spray. The offence took place at Crawley between August 1 and November 12 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 60 hours of unpaid work.


Colin Taylor, 59, of Streetfield Road, Slinfield, Horsham, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on Langley Green, Crawley, on May 29, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 61 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for 17 months.

Christopher Vine, 26, of Larch Avenue, Guildford, Surrey, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her. The offence took place at Crawley on June 9. He also pleaded guilty to causing damage to a phone belonging to the victim on the same date. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was due to a previous assault and that he had put his hands around the victim’s neck. The court made a community order. 


July 1:

Amit Walia, 28. of Twyne Close, Crawley, pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen vehicle on Bewbush Road, Crawley, on October 11 last year with the controlled drug benzoylecgonine in his blood stream. He also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance or licence. He was fined £768 and banned from driving for 16 months.


Phillip Wood, 54, of Greenwod Drive, Angmering, indicated a plea of guilty to racially aggravated threatening behaviour. The offence took place at Haywards Heath railway station on October 19 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 200 hours of unpaid work.


Andreas Theophanatos, 28, of Mulberry Court, Guildford, Surrey, indicated a plea of guilty to pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking of a woman, including using threatening behaviour on two occasions and to sending messages saying: ‘We know where to find you. You cannot hide. We are closer than you think’ and: ‘The end is close. Soon you will know who we are’. The offence took place at Haywards Heath between September 2 and November 5 last year. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months. Magistrates said the sentence was due to the ‘planned and detailed degradation of the victim’. The court also made a community order.

Victoria Clark, 36, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to being drunk in a public place, at Hurst Road, Horsham, on February 25, while having the charge of a child under seven years of age. The court made a community order.


Anthony Costain, 55, of Forest View Road, East Grinstead, indicated a plea of guilty to intentionally attempting to communicate with a girl under the age of 16 and encouraging her to perform sexual acts for his own gratification. The offence took place at East Grinstead between October 2 and October 3 last year. He was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years. The court also made a community order.

July 7:

Ethan Ferguson, 19, of South Street, Partridge Green, Horsham, pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Clio on Storrington Road, Horsham, on November 22 last year with cocaine in his blood stream. He also pleaded guilty to driving with the controlled drug benzoylecgonine in his blood stream on the same date. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for one year.
