Man, 80, seriously injured in West Sussex Asda car park assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after an 80-year-old man suffered serious injuries in an assault.

Officers were called to the car park of the Asda store, in Pegler Way, Crawley, at around 10.55am on Saturday (July 10) following reports of a man being attacked.

The victim, an 80-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains at this time, police said.

A 29-year-old man from Crawley has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody at this time, a police spokesman added.

The car park was busy at the time of the assault, according to police, and officers investigating the matter are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
