Man arrested after armed police respond to Battle incident

Armed officers, as well as the police helicopter, were called to Powdermill Lane in the afternoon.

The police helicopter was also called, with nearby residents said it was hovering over the area for some time.

An eyewitness said she saw a person on the floor close to where armed police officers stopped.

A police spokeman said: “Sussex Police attended a property in Powerdmill Lane, Battle, around midday on Friday and arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of cannabis. He remains in custody at this time.”
