Man arrested after suspected arson attack in Pevensey Bay
A man has been arrested following a ‘deliberate’ car fire in Pevensey Bay.
The parked vehicle, a white Renault, was all but destroyed in the blaze which ripped through it in the early hours of this morning (April 23).
Emergency services were called to Innings Drive at 12.30am.
Eastbourne firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to fight the flames.
A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said, “The fire was deemed to have been caused deliberately and subsequently, the incident was handed over to Sussex Police to investigate.”
Sussex Police said officers attended the scene and arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of arson. He has been released on bail.
Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious is asked to report online or call 101, quoting serial 40 of 23/04.
