Man arrested after suspected drugs deal in Eastbourne

A man has been charged with drugs and driving offences after police stopped a car in Eastbourne.

On Tuesday (November 3), officers were on plain-clothed patrols when they witnessed a suspected drugs deal take place in a car in Bourne Street around midday.

Sussex Police say the car was then seen again in Grange Road at 1.15pm, when further suspicious activity was witnessed.

Uniformed officers were called to stop the vehicle and did so in St Anne’s Road. A search of the vehicle found cocaine with an estimated street value of £3,000, cannabis with an estimated street value of £6,000 and around £2,000 in cash.

A police spokesperson said, “Shkelqim Belshaku, 42, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, possession with intent to supply a Class B drug, using a motor vehicle without insurance, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and acquiring / using / possessing criminal property.”

The man appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (November 4) and was remanded in custody to next appear in court on December 2.
