Man arrested after woman suffers head injury on boat in Rye

Police are investigating after a woman suffered a head injury on a boat in Rye.

On Tuesday (March 31), police issued an appeal for witnesses after an incident from about 11pm on Sunday, February 16, in which an ambulance was called to Rock Channel Quay.

They were responding to reports a woman in her 50s was injured on a boat, police said.

She was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment.

A 41-year-old man from Peacehaven was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, according to police.

He has been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

On Tuesday, a police spokesman said: “Police are investigating the matter and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have heard a disturbance in the area around the time, to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting 47200041832.”
