Man assaulted in ‘unprovoked attack’ in Hailsham town centre

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 65-year-old man was the victim of an unprovoked attack in Hailsham town centre.

Sussex Police said two of its community support officers were on foot patrol on Tuesday (July 21) when they came across a man with a facial injury.

The man had been the victim of an unprovoked attack in St Mary’s Churchyard shortly before 8pm that evening, police said.

Officers investigating the incident say they are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen what happened.
