Man charged with assault following altercation in Lancing

A man has been charged with assault by beating following an altercation in Lancing, according to police.

Officers were called to the Penhill Road and Cecil Road area of the town shortly before 5pm on Friday (June 19) to reports of an altercation, a police spokesman said.

Two people suffered minor injuries.

The spokesman said: “Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, particularly members of the public who flagged down police officers at the scene.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 1040 of 19/06.

Michael Blades, 37, unemployed, of no fixed address, appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday (June 22) charged with three counts of assault by beating, police confirmed.

He is next due to appear in court on August 7.
