Man charged with murder of Jacob

A MAN has been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Jacob Woudstra in Hastings on Thursday (April 5).

Today (Sunday) the Crown Prosecution Service approved the charging of Adam Skilton, 42, of Wilton Road, Bexhill.

He has also been charged with perverting the course of justice. He will appear before Hastings magistrates tomorrow morning (Monday) in relation to both charges.

Also appearing will be Wesley Long, 34, of High Street, Hastings, who has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

A 31-year-old man from Rye, arrested on suspicion of the murder of Jacob, and a 19-year-old man from Hastings, arrested for violent disorder, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Chief Inspector Heather Keating, Hastings District Policing Commander, said: "Hastings remains a town in shock and out thoughts are with everyone, particularly Jacob's friends and family, who have been affected by this tragic incident.

"I appreciate that this will have caused some fear and anxiety among the community, but I should like to reassure everyone that we are working tirelessly to establish how and why this happened."

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Raymer from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, who is leading the investigation into Jacob's murder, said: "This inquiry remains active and we would still like to hear from anyone who has information, but has not yet come forward.
