Man discovers dead body in Washington car park

A member of the public has discovered the body of a man in parked car in Washington.

The body was found at 2pm on Thursday February 6 in a Ford Focus in a car park adjacent to Parkfield Farm, Glaseby Lane.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has been referred to the coroner’s officer.

The Metropolitan Police named the man as Ronald Lane, 75, from County Durham, who had been reported missing from a family address in Carshalton on Wednesday February 5.

Next of kin have been informed.

A post mortem will be held in due course.
