Man in custody for Selsey sword attack

A man has been remanded in custody following reports a man and woman were attacked in Selsey by someone wielding a sword on Wednesday (February 17).

The incident was reported to have happened at around 6.20pm and the victims sustained cuts and bruises and were taken by ambulance to St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester.

Sam Bath, 52, a builder from Northfield, Selsey, was arrested yesterday (Thursday) and charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, harassment and two counts of wounding with intent.

He appeared before magistrate today (Friday) and has been remanded in custody to appear before Chichester Crown Court on March 18.
