Man sexually assaulted and robbed in Bognor Regis

POLICE have today (Wednesday, April 11) appealed for witnesses after a man had cash stolen from him and was sexually assaulted in Bognor Regis.

The victim, who is 60, was outside The Royal Norfolk Hotel, at The Esplanade/Aldwick Road, opposite the skatepark, when he was approached by a woman at about 11.40pm on Saturday, March 31.

She spoke to the victim, who then noticed a man nearby.

He became nervous and went to walk on but the woman grabbed his arms to stop him.

She pulled him close by forcing his right arm behind her and making him hold her bottom before touching him.

She then removed his wallet from his coat pocket and threw it to the man, who took £25 in cash before throwing it back.

The victim asked for his money but the couple denied taking it.

Another man, who was passing, stopped and asked the victim if he was OK but he was scared and walked off.

The woman is described as white, English, around 5ft 6in tall, about 20 years old, of medium build, with light brown hair that was tied up on her head.

She was wearing a mauve top with flowers, pale blue jeans and dark, dirty trainers.

The man was white, English, about two inches taller than the woman, of skinny build, about 20 years old, with a shaved head, wearing a grey zip up hooded top.

PC Trevor Pritchard, who is investigating the offence, said: “Although the victim wasn’t physically injured, he was left extremely distressed and scared by what happened.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened that night, or who has information about it.

“We are also anxious to trace the man who stopped to offer assistance as he did not leave a name or call police.

“He is described as being about 23 years old, perhaps a little bit older, about 6ft tall, with broad shoulders, and wearing a leather jacket.

“Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 101, quoting reference number 1192 of April 1.

“Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
