Man '˜threatened with a gun' in Worthing

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man reported being threatened with a gun in Worthing on Wednesday (November 2).

Police confirmed that the victim, a 25-year-old local man, was cycling along Poulters Lane, Worthing at around 11pm when he spotted a man stood on the pavement who appeared to be arguing with a woman.

A spokesman for the police said: “As he rode past, the man pointed what looked like a gun at the cyclist.

“Police were called and officers arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.

“An 18-year-old man from Worthing was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and common assault. He was released on bail until December 9 pending further enquiries.”

Response Investigator Amanda Hodges said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw anything suspicious.
