Man’s neck ‘slashed’ in late-night Brighton attack

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with a ‘slash wound’ to his neck after being attacked near a taxi rank in Brighton.

The attack took place in East Street, Brighton, early on Saturday (February 23).

A police spokesperson said: “At around a 1.15am, a 32-year-old man received a slash wound to his neck as he was walking near the taxi rank. He was taken to hospital. The injury was not life threatening and he was treated and released.

“A man was arrested shortly afterwards and charged.”

Detective Constable Ed Downes said: “This was a vicious attack with a knife that left a man needing stitches and could obviously have ended quite differently. We are very eager to speak to anyone who saw the incident including any taxis drivers waiting in the nearby rank.

“We are keen to identify any witnesses who can assist our investigation. Please get in touch.”
