Masked man with knife attempts to rob Warnham shop

A man wearing a stocking mask and wielding a knife attempted to rob a shop in Warnham before fleeing on Saturday (September 19).

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at Warnham Village Stores at about 4.20pm.

The man entered the store, brandished a knife and demanded money from the shop assistant.

Other staff heard the threats and came to help, and the man ran out of the shop empty handed, turning right into Church Street.

He is described as about 5’8”, of medium build wearing a cap and a black jacket, and disguised with a stocking mask.

Detective sergeant Peter Yarrow said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who saw a man hanging around the shop before the incident or running from the shop or has any information about who may have been responsible.
