New police chief pinpointed

Former Met Police Commander Nick Ephgrave has been pinpointed as the new Chief Constable of Surrey Police.

Surrey’s Police and Crime Commissioner David Munro announced that Nick Ephgrave is his ‘preferred candidate’ for the role.

The appointment, which is subject to a confirmation hearing by the Surrey Police and Crime Panel, follows a rigorous selection process.

Nick Ephgrave was appointed Temporary Chief Constable of Surrey Police in December 2015, having originally joined the organisation in July 2013 as Deputy Chief Constable.

Before that he was a Commander in the Metropolitan Police Service. He was awarded the Queens Policing Medal in the Birthday honours.

He said: “I am delighted to have been offered the job as Chief Constable for Surrey Police. It’s great to be able to carry on the work of the last six months with the Chief Officer team that we created. I look forward to a fruitful and productive relationship with the Police and Crime Commissioner, to drive forward his Police and Crime Plan. ”

The Police and Crime Panel will meet to confirm Nick Ephgrave in the role of Chief Constable of Surrey Police next month at County Hall in Kingston upon Thames.
