Sussex Police have said there is 'no threat to the wider community' after reports of a man in possession of a firearm at a house in Crawley.

A Sussex Police statement said: "At 12.37pm on Friday 23 April, police received a report of a man in possession of a firearm at a house in Binstead Close, Crawley.

"The road was temporarily closed to enable officers to safely respond to the incident and protect the public. A suspect has been arrested for a firearms offence and our enquiries are continuing.

"This is being treated as an isolated with no threat to the wider community. There are additional officers in the area to provide reassurance to the public."
