Operation Dragonfly: Drink driver caught on his way to the shops for more alcohol

Boguslaw Trawinski was arrested after he crashed his Renault Scenic into two parked cars at the Langley Parade shops in Crawley at 10.15pm on June 6.

Police say they arrested Trawinski at the scene and he had 108 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of his breath - more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

Trawinski, of Chestnut Walk, Crawley, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on June 22.

He was banned from driving for two years, fined £320 and ordered to pay £235 costs and a £32 victim surcharge, police say.

Another driver from Crawley was given a two year ban that same day.

A statement from Sussex Police said: “Christopher Marsh, 35, was spotted by police driving erratically in Ifield Avenue, Crawley, at 11.30pm on June 6 but when officers put their lights and siren on to indicate for him to stop, Marsh accelerated away from them.

“The officers pursued him to his home and then arrested him. He had 104 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of his breath - almost three times the legal limit.

“Marsh, of Barnfield Road, Crawley, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on June 22.

“He was banned from driving for 24 months, fined £580 and ordered to pay £235 costs and a £58 victim surcharge.”
