Peacehaven rape suspect is released without charge

A man arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in a park in Peacehaven has been released without charge, police have confirmed.

The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape and possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply following a report that a woman was raped at Oval Park on April 25, between 10.30pm and 12 midnight.

Sussex Police confirmed on Tuesday (May 26), that he has been released without charge.

Police said the victim was receiving support from specially trained officers.

“This is currently being treated as an isolated incident and the victim and suspect are believed to be known to each other,” said a spokesman.

“Anyone with information is asked to report online or call 101, quoting serial 1719 of 25/04.”
