Person arrested for possession of an offensive weapon in Hailsham

Sussex Police have arrested a person for possession of an offensive weapon in Hailsham.

The arrest came during a week of patrols in the Wealden district by Sussex Police and was part of 13 arrests that the force made over the past week.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “There were a total of 13 arrests made last week across the Wealden district.

“We arrested two drivers that were caught behind the wheel whilst over the drink limit.

“One arrest was made for possession off an offensive weapon in Hailsham.

“Three arrests were made for common assault in Lower Willingdon, Hellingly and Herstmonceux - one of which was assault of an emergency worker.

“Other offences included criminal damage and failure to appear at court.”

Police also took part in patrols in Eastbourne, where officers made 25 arrests for multiple offences in the town, including burglary, theft, common assault, drink-driving, drug possession and theft from shops.
