Police are seeking witnesses to anti-social behaviour by a man in an Uckfield park.

At about 8.30pm on Friday August 17 at Luxford Fields Park in Uckfield, a man who appeared to have been drinking was causing distress to people using the park by shouting and swearing.

Several of them left the park to get away from him.

At one point he sat next to two young women sitting on a park bench, sat next to one, and assaulted her, but she was not injured in any way, though very upset.

Detective Constable Andrew Smith said; “We would like to speak to anyone else who was in the park on that Friday evening. If you can help in any way please contact us via 101 quoting serial 2109 of 17/8. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.”

A 34-year old local man was arrested later the same evening, on suspicion of sexual assault by touching, and was subsequently released on police bail until October 7 while enquiries continue.
