One property in Burdocks Drive, Burgess Hill, and one in Cuckfield Road, Hurstpierpoint, were entered and both had cash and jewellery stolen.

PCSO Anika Clough said: “We believe they were committed by an opportunist burglar as both properties had doors left unlocked. Please make sure all doors and windows are locked and secure. Pay particular attention to windows on the ground floor and above flat roofs. Use locks and bolts and keep all your keys including car keys, out of sight and out of reach. Don’t make it easy for a burglar.

“Anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police on 101 quoting serial 991 of 26/11.”
