The woman is receiving expert medical support and counselling while detectives work to establish what has happened.

Detective Sergeant Jason Turner said; “We are currently investigating this as a sexual assault, in the alleyway between Pocket Park and New Place Road in Pulborough, while the woman was walking home. However our enquiries are at an early stage and the full circumstances are not yet clear.

“If anyone was in the area at any time between midnight and 2am this morning, Thursday, and saw anything suspicious, please contact us via [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting serial 251 of 1/1. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

No arrests have been made.
