Police arrest boys, 16, after crash closes major Horsham road

Two teenagers have been arrested after a crash closed a major Horsham road.

The collision, which happened just before 7pm on September 30, closed North Street close to Horsham Station, police said. No injuries were reported.

Earlier police were called just before 3pm to reports a motor vehicle had been stolen from an address in the Mayfield Road area of Farnborough, Hampshire Police said. The victim, a 39-year-old woman from Farnborough, also reported the suspect having a knife.

A spokeswoman added: “The vehicle was tracked through Surrey by officers from both Hampshire Constabulary and Surrey Police, and into the Sussex area.

“Just before 7pm the vehicle, a Ford Kuga, was in collision on North Street in Horsham. No injuries were reported.”

The driver, a 16-year-old boy from Farnborough, has been arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, possession of an offensive weapon, driving without a license, dangerous driving, and driving without insurance, she added. A second 16-year-old boy from Horsham was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking. Both remain in custody at this time.
