Police arrest two men in Brighton for firearms offences

Two men have been arrested after police were called to reports of a man with a firearm in Brighton last night, a spokesman said.

Police officers responded to reports of a man in possession of a firearm in London Road, Brighton, at around 8.30pm yesterday (Thursday, July 4).

An area search was conducted and two men were arrested nearby.

A 31-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence, police said.

A 25-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place, confirmed police.

Both remain in custody and enquiries are ongoing.

Police said: "Anyone who has information is asked to report online or call 101 quoting 1552 of 04/07."
