Police are investigating after a number of their marked vehicles were deliberately damaged over the last few days whilst parked at Police Headquarters in Church Lane, Lewes.

In total, six vehicles were tampered with between 31 October and 7 November. All the vehicles - which include two CCTV vans, a Land Rover and three general purpose cars - were taken in for repair after warning lights were displayed on the dashboard.

Insp Jonathan Greetham, from the Lewes Neighbourhood Response Team, said: “This is being investigated in the same way any other spate of vehicle crimes would be. We have carried out a number of enquiries to try and find those responsible and these will continue.

“Fortunately, no-one has been hurt but malicious tampering with any vehicle could have devastating consequences, not only for the driver, their passengers but also members of the public, if an accident were to occur.

“If anyone has any information at all about what has happened then we would urge them to contact police as soon as possible on 101, quoting serial 1100 of 7 November.”
